Tippecanoe County’s two senators had been publicly on different sides before the Indiana Senate leader announced Friday that the votes weren’t there for a special session
"My support was to help ensure the president has the support he needs in Congress to continue passing his bold agenda.” ~ Ron Alting
The hardest part for Alting was to call his Mad King to deliver the news with tears in his eyes and "Sir" on his lips that, despite his blind support and that of MAGAt Mike Braun, along with the outside influence of the Steaming Pile of Rokita, they could not persuade enough other Republican'ts to sell their souls.
I am pleased Indiana politician put partisan politics aside for the moment and rejected this crazy idea from Trump. I also remain deeply disappointed in Ron Alting. He has diminished himself by signing on to this idea that was opposed by so many republicans and democrats.
Braun is infuriating with his “ensure Hoosiers’ voices in Washington, D.C., are not diluted”. When he tried to completely erase any non-Republican Hoosier voices in the U.S. House.
Last I looked, he was Governor of Indiana, and needs to focus on fair representation for all Hoosiers.
Face plant. Senator Alting has done pretty well by us, so it's shocking that he decided not to serve his constituents and instead supported midterm gerrymandering. Face plant. The followup question is, "Sir, what did you learn from your face plant?"
Here, here Spencer Deery! Thanks for standing up to Trump!
Poor Ron sold his soul for nothing.
I like to think, now he owes us one. Come on back, Ronnie.
His statement is pure white noise, so you know he knows he's whupped.
Ron is a traitor. Hopefully a strong Democratic Socialist candidate steps up and defeats him.
Thank you for posting statements. Fascinating.

Thank you for the update. This whole redistricting situation has been a mess.
Okay, Spencer, good job. There, I said it. (barf)
I hope Sen. Alting thought this was worth the end of his political career. There's no mea culpa that's going to save him now.

So glad that this died, and hope it stays dead.

This is positive news, but we have seen the Indiana supermajority do some sneaky things with legislation in the past 10 years.
I have not been able to find the absolute deadline that any redistricting legislation has to be passed to be in effect for 2026 election cycle.
So, I will completely believe it when such deadline passes.
