Although I've been a big fan of fireworks for years and years, I realize that we spend a lot of money on celebrating big events with explosive things that cause a lot of pollution and trash and smoke. I like this much better.
A for effort, but not sure it replaces a fireworks show. Maybe my expectations were too high. I was expecting something closer to what we see at NBA pregames and the light show on the floor (hockey does this too). In hindsight, that may be more on me.
I would like to see the taste feature more art in more obvious ways. The light installation on 5th needed some signs and maybe a call out some way.
That all said, we had a great time Saturday night. Yes, lines were long, but we found food, beer, friends and were quite happy. We stayed longer than we intended too.
Definitely a hidden gem of summers in Lafayette. Can not wait for next years festival! The organizers did a great job.
