Of course Mitch would want to go from bad (coal) to worse (nuclear) to power Purdue. As long as the question of what to do with nuclear waste is hanging around our necks, we should not go that route. We MUST stop leaving poisonous detritus for later generations to deal with.
Nuclear is likely the best option for a clean energy that can provide that reliably and consistently.
Other green options such as wind, solar, hydro, all have their own disadvantages just like nuclear but nuclear has clear advantages and is a good band aid until we can get the issues with solar and wind worked out.
As far as the waste, there’s a big yellow object in the sky, I don’t know why we can’t launch the waste into that.
