Clerk Julie Roush calls Paula Copenhaver’s 'misinformation' and accusations ‘deeply disappointing,’ as disputes over a three-vote margin in Indiana Senate District 23 in May primary head into August.
I'm sure Roush did her job cleanly and without corruption, but good grief it's something when the party of Donald Trump complains about public officials undermining public confidence in election integrity (I recall Deery made a similar comment). Strong vibes of the "We're all trying to find the guy who did this" meme.
The president has a 34% approval rating as of this week, in a country where just under 50% of people voted for him, so it's clear the large majority of Republicans are Republicans because they like him and what he's doing and how he behaves and how he treats people. Much as I'd like to see sane Republicans retake the party their numbers are tiny, and unless they are willing to be openly anti-Trump I'm going to assume Roush, Deery, and especially Mitch (who has nothing to lose by being anti-Trump) all support him.
Hard to say with the new politics of cognitive dissonance and deceptive mass media. It’s now possible to have a president little r’s don’t like but they condone what he stands for. From there, it’s either a super cynical thought that they know what DT is doing is wrong (ICE raids, tariffs, gutting civic service), but they just like seeing those they hate take hits; again my cynical POV.
There is another street where they are a lot of rubes in the “classic” GOP voter ranks, conned into believing something that’s not true; in my heart, I don’t think that’s true.
People have made their lot, and when DT’s palace of sin collapses it will create an ideological vacuum no one is ready for. Dark days ahead for the republic, I fear.
Good thoughts. In general I don't buy that DJT is a product of easily-conned rubes, quite the opposite. Spencer Deery is educated and knows that election skepticism is wholly driven by Trump, as does Julie Roush. Todd Rokita, Mike Braun, Micah Beckwith, Mitch Daniels, none of these are poor rubes who have been "left behind" by the economy, nor are Ron DeSantis or Ted Cruz or Josh Hawley, all grads of the most elite institutions. They're all cynically pursuing power in the base way that their party demands. Hell, that's why Deery's stance on redistricting stood out, it was the incredibly rare moment of principle in a party whose highly educated, highly powerful leaders make no pretense of principle at all.
I'm saddened by this new culture of undermining confidence in elections when the results don't go your way. I get legitimate scrapping, as in the Bush v. Gore election when the most powerful position on Earth came down to a few Florida votes, but, really, in this dispute, is it worth harming local democracy for such a fight ? will vote in ways that mostly satisfy his opponent's constituents, no doubt. Sometimes, when you lose out on a leadership position and you realize that your agenda will go forward, you just have to say, "Oh, I guess it doesn't have to be at the head of the ship." And then, you pick up an oar and help row. I offer this thought with no dog in the fight. I voted differently.
Once again,Donnie is trying to rig an election. I can’t believe he cares much who wins this election ,it’s all part of his payback plan to make Derry pay for blocking his re-districting scheme. This a load of crap that should have thrown out the first day it was filed. Do we need to tie up the courts, the judge & staff, all the other staff with this kind of crap ???!!! Just so Donnie can prove what a bad-ass he is ??? Is this what we’ve sunk to because of Donnie & his toadies ??? If the answer is yes, we’re pretty much done for.
The White House has appointed Paula Copenhaver to the role of "Under Assistant Indiana-based Field Press Secretary."
Copenhaver is scheduled to receive her appointment at a White House ceremony between President Trump's meetings with "Crypto Carl," who purchased the most Trump coins, and the female championship 14-year-old Irish Dance group, who will be received in a private meeting without photo shoots.

I am reminded of OJ Simpson's dogged search for the "real killer." No, not a mirror.
Why she is still a Republican is beyond me. Same for Mitch etc. I'd like to see that Lincoln Party (the Greg Ballard thing) go somewhere.

Copenhaver is right out of the Trump playbook. Despicable!
