Q&A: A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PROPOSED $350M DISTRICT AT TAPAWINGO PLANS IN WEST LAFAYETTE
Lafayette-based Trinitas Ventures last week filed initial plans for what could be a $350 million mixed-used project on 11 undeveloped acres between Tapawingo Drive and River Road.
At 960 units across five buildings, tucked into a series of streets the city’s been hoping to see in its 2024 downtown traffic plan, the District at Tapawingo would be the largest of the redevelopment projects in West Lafayette – a city that has been teeming with hefty projects over the past decade.
The designs filed with the Area Plan Commission include 1,800 beds and 15,000-square-feet of commercial space in a series of five- and six-story mixed-use buildings roughly behind River Market Apartments, a Speedway and the Hampton Inn.

Mark Becher, vice president of mixed-used development for Trinitas, said the design of the District at Tapawingo is meant to be a gateway to West Lafayette at the roundabout for Tapawingo, South River Road and Williams Street.
“We’re excited to get going with the city on this,” Becher said.
Here’s more about the project from a conversation with Becher.
